The Cardiff Methodist Circuit has now achieved the Bronze Eco Circuit Award!

and we are the first Methodist Circuit in Wales to achieve this!
This award affirms our attention to the care of God’s creation and encourages the adoption of Eco Church by churches in our Circuit.
Wesley Methodist in Canton, Radyr Methodist and St. Andrew’s Methodist have achieved their Silver Eco Church Award.
Llanishen Methodist and Cyncoed Methodist have achieved it’s Bronze Award.
Cathays Methodist is working towards their award.
This is what they said:
There are many positive aspects of your application, and it’s particularly encouraging to read about some of the eco events and initiatives that have taken place within your Circuit churches and collaborations with other denominations, too in Cardiff through the EC network.
Your Environment Policy (which is shared on your Circuit website) is comprehensive and we are delighted that you have already undertaken a baseline assessment, marking actions for the future and progression. Also that you aligned it with the five categories of the Eco Church survey. When you next review, we recommend that your Environment Policy includes looking at targets for carbon reduction and more action on nature, land and biodiversity initiatives.
Your various methods for supporting and encouraging churches on their Eco church journey are great- from the WhatsApp group and other social media sharing to regular face-to-face meetings.
Thank you for sharing your list of churches with awards. You have certainly achieved a significant number of awarded Eco Churches in your Circuit and so that is looking encouraging moving forwards too. We hope that this circuit award will help motivate others who have not registered yet to do so and work towards awards.

What is Eco Church?
Eco Church is a learning community of churches of all shapes and sizes open to all denominations.
It provides a framework to support your church and its leadership to take practical action on caring for God’s earth,
through the Eco Church survey.
The survey covers five key areas of church life:
Worship and teaching
Buildings and energy
Land and nature
Community and global engagement
Lifestyle
The survey guides you and help you assess your progress towards a Bronze, Silver or Gold Eco Church award!
