‘Recalling the Miracle: Reflections through Advent and the Twelve Days of Christmas’.

This accessible little book provides a short written reflection and an image for every day between 1st December and Epiphany. It’s suitable for individual study and, with a bit of adaptation, group bible study. Here is a ‘quick link’ to where it is sold on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1739657705

Further details are also available on my website: www.basketsofbread.co.uk which contains plenty of material that may be used by churches free of charge.

Anyone who’s on Facebook might be interested in the daily reflection material found at https://www.facebook.com/basketsofbread

Many thanks,

Laura

Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II

The President and Vice-President of the Methodist Conference have made the following statement in response to the announcement of the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

“It was with profound sadness that we learned of the death of Her Majesty the Queen today. We join the nation in grief and thank God for her long and distinguished reign. The loyalty to, and love expressed, for Queen Elizabeth across the world is a testament to the life that she led, one marked by dedicated service to others. She provided encouragement and reassurance to a world living through uncertain times.

“For people of all ages the Queen has provided constancy, a calm and wise influence at all levels of society. Our nation, the Commonwealth and the world have been greatly blessed by her life and work.

“We give thanks to God that her duty as monarch was grounded in a deep faith in Jesus Christ, which has been an inspiration to countless people throughout her reign. Her dedication, commitment and service to her people will never be forgotten and will sustain all those who mourn in the coming weeks. Our prayers are for her family who have lost a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt and we pray that all may be inspired by her service and guided by her example.

“The prayers of the Methodist people are also offered for His Majesty the King in his new role.”

The Revd Graham Thompson and Anthony Boateng, President and Vice-President of the Methodist Conference

Prayers and further resources can be found on the Methodist Church Website.

Some of our congregations opened their Churches for quiet prayer and reflection for Queen Elizabeth and her family and to put thoughts in a book of condolence.

Here are some photos from Llandaff North Methodist on Sunday afternoon.

Farewell Service for Alana and Paul

It was lovely to Worship together as a Circuit on Sunday at Wesley Methodist Church in Caerphilly. We had the opportunity to say thank you to Alana and Paul for their Ministry, love and friendship and to wish them well as they prepare to move to their new Circuits. We also had time to share in fellowship afterwards as what Methodist gathering is complete without tea and cake! A video of the Service has been produced for those who were unable to attend. Please contact Lisa at the Circuit Office if you are interested in receiving it.

Easter in the Cardiff Circuit

Churches across the Circuit celebrated Easter Day in many ways with outdoor Worship on Caerphilly Mountain, Llandaff North Weir, at Roath Park, in Radyr and in Llanishen’s Quiet Garden. Many Churches also created Easter Crosses decorated with beautiful flowers. We hope you enjoy the photos below from a few of our Churches.
